WHO CAN SAVE THE RED PLANET?

The mutants of Arakko spent millennia scarred by war — but on what was once called Mars, they’re learning to live in peace. STORM knows the red planet needs something greater than a queen. But ABIGAIL BRAND has other plans, along with an unstable VULCAN on her side and CABLE keeping his own secrets. Welcome to X-MEN RED. It’s a new world…and someone has to fight for it.

40 PGS./Rated T+ …$4.99

It appears the third Summers brother, Gabriel aka Vulcan, the misfit compared to his brothers Scott aka Cyclops and Alex Havok, is raising havoc on Mars?! (Although there was a fourth Summers brother revealed recently to be Adam Neramani aka Adam-X which made the Summers family tree a bit more complicated.)

He seems to be in a fighting mood and not only does Sunspot oblige…

…so does Thunderbird.

Cable aka Nathan Summers and the nephew of Vulcan (a long story involving time travel) and Abigail Brand of SWORD break-up the fight to collect Vulcan, but…

…not to punish him, but recruit him?!

In addition, later, Brand plots with the Regent of Arakko, Storm, claimed Arakko (the renamed Mars) needs its own X-Men.

Storm seems intrigued, but not committal.

After leaving the X-Men and Earth in Immortal X-Men #1 (full spoilers here), Magneto make a home for himself, quite literally a castle, on Arakko.

Sunspot later comes to Magneto as does…

…Storm with the purpose of forming a Brotherhood to protect the mutants of Arakko from threats including Abigail Brand.

The Pulse:

An intriguing issue which was not what I expected, but hooked me nonetheless despite the lack of action. The issue was drama heavy. Decent art. 7.5 out of 10.
