Thanks to Randy (Jamie Kennedy), we learned all the rules and formulas that came with a horror movie when we witnessed the wonderment that is Scream. In Scream 2, Randy taught us that the rules change a little bit for sequels and ways of surviving needed to be amended. Unfortunately for him, he wasn’t able to abide by those rules so well. Via videotape delivered by his sister Martha, Randy appeared in Scream 3 and let us know that in the concluding chapter of a trilogy, all bets were off and anyone could die, even the main character.
Lucky for us, that didn’t happen and Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) survived which allowed Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson to deliver Scream 4 to us and it will hit theatres on April 15, 2011. That’s a really long time to wait for our next set of “screams.” Especially considering this message that appeared on Craven’s Twitter account on Wednesday: “It’s the end of the beginning , and the beginning of the end… That’s a wrap on @Scream4!”
Awww man, really? Already? And we’ve still got six and a half months to go until it gets released? At least we’ve got Saw 3D and Paranormal Activity 2 to look forward to. That’s good isn’t it? Moving on.
On Wednesday night, Entertainment Tonight aired some exclusive footage along with cast interviews that gave us a brief glimpse into what we can expect from our favorite returning characters along with some new ones. Craven, Campbell, Courtney Cox-Arquette, David Arquette, and Emma Roberts all gave us some insight as to what we can expect when the Ghost Face returns to the big screen.

John Valeri, the Scream Franchise Examiner, was lucky enough to get an exclusive interview with a “source” close to the production and making of Scream 4 which revealed plenty that fans of the franchise can get excited about.
John Valeri: Have you seen Neve Campbell on-set? If so, can you tell us what it’s like watching her reprise the role of Sidney Prescott?
I’m not sure Neve actually does any acting. She seems like she is Just being herself. Based on my interactions with her she is very down to earth and very nice. Always says please and thank you. I just think Sidney Prescott is another name for Neve Campbell. Same person.
JV: What is the chemistry like between the original trio and the newcomers? What do the young actors bring to the film?
The original trio and the newcomers aren’t always around each other but they all get along. Dave is the first person to make someone smile. Everyone is a delight to be around and everyone considers the other an equal part not veteran or newcomer. The young actors bring a different energy and dialogue that identifies with the younger crowd. So it wont be the same group of people in the theatre as back in 1999.
JV: From what you have seen, how would you say SCREAM 4 is going to compare to the original trilogy? Many sources have said that it captures the spirit of the first SCREAM more so than the sequels—do you agree?
From what I have seen there are things in this movie that definitely make reference to the others. But this film is going to put the other 2 sequels to rest.
JV: The tagline for the film is “New Decade, New Rules.” Can you give us a little insight as to what this might mean?
I’ll be right back…….ok back. Wait I didn’t die oh no! The rules as Jamie Kennedy put them are no longer in effect. Anything goes. The rules that the sequels went by ultimately made them stupid. The movie makes reference to it. When you watch it you will see.
This is all so exciting and April 15 cannot get here soon enough. Ghostface returns and I couldn’t be happier about it.
